The arduous trip was rife with road
construction and a delayed journey.
At long last came the arrival with
hugs, kisses, and belongings. I recall
my father’s words: there she comes
with all her things for just the weekend.
Whether for a weekend or for one year,
some items must be packed for the trip.
The necessities of the college years differ
from those of young parents and offspring.
Grandparents entertain with songs, stories,
silly faces and rhymes. A welcome respite!
Crawling now, I wonder aloud about childproof
locks for the kitchen cabinets. My husband’s
reality differs. Ask any grandmother. The
answer will be the same: sooner than later!
Beautiful as always. 🙂

Anne, thank you for your insightful comment. One little one tires out four adults! Quite the little personality now too. Hope you had lovely family visits too. Enjoy the weekend. oxox
