Falling rain with a soft patter as I fell asleep
magically turned to falling snow and frozen
silence today. My artist’s eye invited me to
take photos of snow-covered branches as
we drove north for car repairs. The branches
look so delicate and clean with a hint of snow.
Such a delight to relish this silence and beauty.
The four seasons where we live never cease
to amaze. Others rave about the wonders of
warmer climates. Never a fan of humidity, I
will tolerate the Colorado sun or the deserts
in the Southwest where many days have
air temperatures above 100° but with low
humidity. We are content with where we are.
The winter months have several family birthdays
so, we quietly are at the ready. Tradition
of long-distance phone calls replete with
lovely renditions of Happy Birthday complete
the celebration. Nothing matches family
sharing in the joy of the occasion. Our
smallest family addition is oblivious to
it all. Isabella’s wants are few: mother’s milk,
clean diaper and wrapped up for a round
in the swing or a nap in her bassinet. Love.
Beautiful pictures!

Anne, thank you for your kind comment. Isabella is a little angel who has blessed many lives in her short time on earth. So happy you enjoyed the photos. We had the snow you see in some of the photos. I imagine your weather is warmer than ours. Be well and blessings in 2023. oxox

We are having a long, slow snowstorm right now. It’s been falling for almost 24 hours and has just now reached about an inch. Had to wait for the temp to get below freezing. oxox

A long snowstorm without much accumulation/ Usually we have 1-2″ per hour when we have a serious snow storm. The salter truck was out today too. Ice is not fun to drive in! Be safe and careful. oxox

The temperature won’t go above freezing for another day. I don’t know how wet the roads were, but I’m not going to chance falling on black ice. Walking can wait a day or so. oxox

I agree. Ice is dangerous. Best to remain indoors where you have warmth. oxox

David has taken his new dog out for a walk in the snow. He says the road is icy in the ruts. I’m staying inside for now.

Why chance it if you don’t have to? What kind of dog? I don’t imagine they salt and sand the way we do in Upstate NY.

We don’t get much snow, so our development has no plow on call. oxox

I wonder if your nearby mountains get some snow then. Good that you have no need for a plow. oxox

We live on a lower slope of a mountain. Most days I walk down to the valley to go to the creek and CLIMB the steep hill back home. There was probably more snow on the tops, but the sun is melting everything, despite the temp of 16° F.

Isabella is so sweet! She looks so contented but why wouldn’t she be, surrounded by so much love. Did you knit the little pink sweater?

Darlene, thank you for your lovely comment. That little pink sweater was knit by a dear friend. Isabella is a precious child and content. Enjoy your weekend. oxox

Bless, Isabella Rose is a gem and already growing a little! Such lovely photos of her and wow, I love the snowfall pictures. That is a proper winter and I totally agree – I would much rather have that than the grey and rain that persists for most of England during these winter months. big sigh.

Annika, thank you so much for the lovely comment. Yes, Isabella Rose is growing very well. I knew you would love and appreciate the winter photos. It is snowing as I write. As a student in Heidelberg, I recall an entire month of fog and gray skies. Give me my four seasons any day. I hear your sigh all the way across the big pond separating us. Be well. Any new projects these days? Enjoy the weekend. oxox
