In the blink of an eye, we welcomed
our grandchild and officially started a
new journey as grandparents. Awesome!
Honored to be in the delivery room!
Isabella Rose entered our world
and lives with a hearty newborn cry.
In an instant our daughter and son in law
became parents and began new roles
while gazing at the baby. A tiny babe!
Miracle of miracles! The most beautiful
baby in the entire world. Every parent
experiences this wonderful feeling.
Our tasks this trip: cook the festive
Christmas meal. Hold the little one.
Do odd jobs around the house. Teach
a bit: the rooting reflex. Tutelage. Do not
wake a sleeping baby. Most importantly:
LOVE this child. The rest will follow.
Nurse, change diapers, swaddle and
hold the baby. Repeat the process.
Routines were established. Sleep when
the baby sleeps. Delegate tasks to
your husband such as laundry. Trips
outside the home are exhausting.
Paraphernalia to accompany the new
child. Packed and unpacked. Planning is
key. We rested in between our visits in
the comfort of a lovely nearby inn
where we could sit by the fireplace
and bask in the joy of our new roles.
Now I understood what had been told
us: the parents were henceforth in charge!
We ended our visit knowing our new
grandchild was safely in the loving arms
of doting parents. This December we
observed the new generation begin!
A perfectly wonderful way to close the old year and embark on the new! 💞 Beautiful Baby! Blessings and love all around… xoxoox

Darlene, thank you for your wonderful comment. You have experienced it, I can tell. Now it is clear when people used to tell us after a visit that the best part is they go home with their parents. Gazing at that angelic face and holding that tiny body are hard to describe. We are enjoying each minute. We even get frequent photos throughout the day. Blessings in 2023! oxox

Wonderful, congratulations. And Welcome to the World little one. There is a song called that by Roy Bailey a British folk singer. Enjoy.

This is the one I know but without the guitar. Roy had a lovely children’s album. Didn’t know Ed Sheeran also wrote one for his newborn. https://youtu.be/4IIJ9JXulCs

Beautiful! Our daughter recorded me singing Brahms Lullaby in German the way I used to sing her to sleep. I had to sing in the delivery room as well as later when she returned home. I noticed you retired from teaching as well. What did you teach? Thank you for the link which I have passed on. oxox

That’s lovely I used to use the german version too and we liked La Le Lu. There’s a Disney of that and the African Thula Mama. Yes, I retired in 2013. I taught English, Drama and Media. Loved it most of the time!

Lucky you with your diverse areas of teaching! In total, I taught German for almost 50 yrs. University on down to elementary. The last 30+ years at the high school level and college credit. It was my passion. Loved it most of the time as well.

Oh that’s a long time but when we love the subject and the students it helps.

True! Also the benefit of taking our two along when I taught in Germany as a Fulbright teacher. Each time was one year so our two became fluent in the language. It’s with us for a lifetime. oxox

That is a gift! I wish I had improved my german as have a very close friend from Bavaria in Spain.

How very kind of you to say so. Ever since my university days in Heidelberg, I loved the language and studied there for three years. During my first Fulbright year, we lived almost on the Bavarian border and shopped there frequently. Lucky you! oxox

Good memories and even better to have such a love for the language and culture. I guess I have been drawn to Spanish by a friend in Peru and then our area near Seville.

The landscape in Spain especially along the Costa del Sol reminded me of Colorado. Valencia,Torremolinos, and Malaga were lovely too.

Mary Ann, congratulations to you both on becoming grandparents. Isabella Rose is adorable and the most beautiful baby – a child that will be loved in abundance! How wonderful you were there at the birth of her. My mother was with me and I wouldn’t have had it any other way! We are connected from the very first breath of my son’s life as you will be with your granddaughter! With much love to you all!
