Memories of past years flash through my head.
Families bring us happiness and joy. Over the
years, I have traveled to many countries both
here and abroad. Music, languages, friends, family,
and Mother Nature entertain. Awe at the creatures
like the wild turkeys and deer on Long Island. The
playful cats on our daughter’s sink just daring
one another “I was here first!” Then realizing they
will have to share the space. Delightful pets.
Recalling a windmill and a favorite restaurant
which features bountiful fresh catch every day.
Life is grand! Stream of consciousness continues.
As I reflect on our winter weather thus far
this season, it doesn’t feel much like winters
past. More rain than snow. The forecast
predicts more of the white blanket to cover
the ground. Occasionally, the sun breaks
through the overcast sky with the promise of
light and warmth. For a fleeting moment or
two. Long enough to visit a neighbor taking
down Christmas lights. We will leave ours
for now. Probably wait for cold and snow before
taking them down. I marvel at the myriad of
ways people communicate and stay in touch.
Old fashioned snail mail. Or a text or other
message, emails. Suffice to say, it is always
good to hear from family and friends. Face to
face over coffee. A phone call or two.
Life is grand! Sharing important moments
such as graduations, birthdays and more.
Life is full of surprises. It keeps things
interesting and us alive. Our music keeps
us vibrant. A stanza or two is frequently
sung in our household. And why not? Music
is food for the soul and a precious gift from
our parents. Life is grand! Happy New Year!
