In Praise and Gratitude

For eyes that see and ears that hear,
For family and friends far and near,

I sing praises and blow a kiss.
Permit me to reminisce:

For countless hours of practice, I am
grateful to sing in choral groups.

Shakespeare wrote that the eyes
are the window to your soul.

For the eyes that have seen the
beauty of nature, I am thankful.

For hugs that show affection and
handshakes with a light squeeze,

I offer thanks and praise. Grateful for the
wonder and power of music.

For parents who taught us and
children who learned from us,

Thank you for the privilege.
For it is in hearing, seeing and

understanding that we are who
we are. The little Brownie in

Massachusetts carrying the flag in
the parade. Thank you for God and country.

Thank you for traveling to other
countries. It is thus that I am grateful for home.

Mary Ann, a beautiful hymn of thankfulness! 😀 In today’s world of busyness we can forget the gifts around us, taking our senses for granted … your post is a moving and warm reminder to us all. As you travel with your choral group, so you take us on a journey, away and ultimately back to the best place of all … home! Xx

    • Annika – you are so perceptive in your understanding of my words. I tried, not always successfully, to stop and smell the roses. Life intervenes sometimes. It is so easy to forget that which is important. The preparations and packing are odious tasks – but necessary. Once we are on the plane, the adventure can begin. Yes, I shall be happy to return home for home is where the heart is. You do your own fair share of traveling so I know you fathom what I intended with my hymn. Thank you! oxox

  6. Despite numerous trips to Europe, we have never visited Vienna! That’s long been a desire, and this post has only amplified it. I hope to come back here when we finally decide the time is right.

    • Vienna is so worth the trip. Magnificent architecture alone. Read a book or newspaper and drink coffee and stay all day if you like. Part of the charm of this delightful city. Thank you for reading and commenting.
