Traveled South to Florida to see buds,
blossoms, palm trees, lizards, birds and
more. Even heard a young alligator.
The reason for the trip? HUGS. Lots
of them for my son and his wife. He
is a couple flights away from us in Upstate NY.
No flowers yet in Upstate but abundant in
the South. Unaccustomed to bright sunlight,
I squinted until I donned sunglasses.
Warm temperatures were welcome as I
became acquainted with Florida State University.
What a music program at this university!
The Tallahassee Community Chorus numbers
upward of 300 voices. Add another 200, and
the Tribute Concert for Dr. Andre Thomas was
superb. So many voices raised in beautiful
music inspired me. Add to all this was a short
visit to the Fine Arts Museum to see undergrad
and graduate students with their creations.
What a perfect long weekend of family, hugs,
music and no social media.
A perfect respite. My heart and spirit
soar as I hear the music over and over.
What a great remedy travel and visiting
loved ones is. Even encountered young
ladies in prom finery and their beaus in
tuxedos at a State Park. Ah, sweet youth!
