As the new school year
is about to commence, I
am grateful for the years
I was able to teach German.
I watch the young ones
in the neighborhood as
they play with one another
and shop for new clothes.
I am grateful for having
had the love and passion
for teaching. Grateful for
precious young people
entrusted me. I am
grateful for the myriad
of well-trained new
teachers full of hope.
I am grateful to be
retired after many
moons in the classroom.
I am grateful for a
new found love of
music and voice lessons.
I am grateful for many
new friends in choral
groups. I am grateful
that I am able to sing
and find pure joy in
life when I do. Joy.
So much to be grateful for… A lovely poem and reminder, Mary Ann! ❤ xo

Thank you, Mary Ann, for this wonderful message about gratefulness! I am sure that we all can and should at least in our thoughts and feelings express our grateful attitude when dealing with our fellow human beings.

I truly appreciate your kind words, Peter. Thank you. I saw a wonderful saying just now on FB which said: “I have a wonderful therapist whose name is music.” I am also grateful for the time others spend with me. The moments may be fleeting but the memories are long lasting. Have a wonderful weekend.

Sometimes the flow is easier to get. Other times, it is a struggle. That’s the writing process.

…don’t I know it! Struggle is my middle name.

The key is that you keep trying. That makes for a great writer. Struggle is just a fact of life sometimes. This week’s blog “Dolce Autumn” was a struggle with rhyming. Counting syllables is a piece of cake. But I set my mind to writing that Welsh poetic form. Results actually pleased me.

I do believe that the collective WE, should keep on, keepin’ on. I just love to write, whether it’s good or bad doesn’t seem to be the point to me. I rarely feel I have a story to tell, but I now do. So, I understand when you set to your mind a particular form, self exploration and determination ensues.

What story do you have to tell, if I might inquire? When you said WE, it reminded me of the Carl Sandburg poem which includes some parts like: there is only ONE Man in the world, and his name is ALL men. There is only One woman in the world, and her name is All women. There is only One child in the world, and its name is ALL children. In writing, I like to use my creative spirit to try many formats. Good luck with yours!

The story in my head that needs to get out I call “Dying To Know”. I am using the protagonist ‘Allie’ as a metaphor on life.

Dying to Know but too shy to ask? Love this title. You can get very creative with it. All the best!
