Poles, wires, trucks, tires
Over potholes to the diner-
the trip couldn’t be finer.
Waitress knew me and
asked if my daughter would
be joining me. Not today.
Coffee, orange juice and water –
oatmeal, eggs, toast,
a side of bacon. She knew the order.
Talk of family trees in
booth next to me with
reunion at a state park
Branches of family tree,
cousins never before seen,
aunts and uncles too.
They ordered a Cunningham
sandwich on toasted sourdough
with turkey, ham and dressing.

Whoa! It’s April snow!
Well, folks, a joke?
It’s April tenth – enough of
the white stuff.
Travel home wishing Old
Man Winter would go away
and let us have flowers, a sunny day.
Have a great weekend and let’s pray for the real Spring to arrive! 🙂 xo

Two concerts to sing: Mozart’s Requiem with orchestra Fri. and Sun. Real spring is temporarily delayed. May you soon have warmer weather!

Thanks for the insightful comment, Peter. We are in between seasons and another cold front is due next week. We live with it and hope it is just rain now. Such is life at our end of the pond! Have a delightful weekend. I sing Mozart’s Requiem tonight and Sunday with an orchestra and Chorale. Should be lovely.

Thank you. Our local newspaper has a nice article about both performances. They will be excellent and will not disappoint.

Mary Ann

Wonderful poem! I love those kinds of old, small-town diners.

Thank your for such a kind comment. I find joy in the ordinary, every day life and people. So I often return to share a few words with others over coffee and conversation or a simple meal. Enjoy your travels!

Our winters in South Africa are not as cold as yours. We do not have snow. Our flowers still bloom but when Spring comes, the excitement is almost palpable.

I can only imagine the wonder and beauty of nature there. We have our four seasons but sometimes, winter is a bit long. Enjoy nature!

Hello Dr. Mary Ann, i have to apologize for the long delay in answering. I hope you will accept my apologize, and hope you had a wonderful weekend with the choir. My thoughts were with you.
You’ve really got snow again? Looks like NY Upstate is much more siberian this year. LOL
I wish you all the best! Michael

So nice of you to write again, Michael. We have rain now but had three warm days which I will call spring. Upstate NY does get its share of snow.

😉 A nice term “share of snow”. Actually we have 21 degrees (C), an some of our technical equiment gave up. Now we are cooling them with traditional cooling packs. 😉

Well, we have 9 C or 7 C with the wind chill and rain. Oh my, trying to keep technical equipment at the correct temperature can be challenging indeed. Good luck.
