5 Things To Do This Summer

  1. Pack sandals, shorts, sunglasses, sunscreen and sun hat.
  2. Bring camera, iPhone or iPad and a good book or two.
  3. Travel to those longed-for destinations.
  4. Book that flight and plan the activities.
  5. Celebrate a birthday and celebrate life and family!

These next two weeks will find me on a trip to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. She let me pick the destination.  She has never been to Arizona, Sedona or the Grand Canyon so Mom selected her favorite place, the Southwest.  On a cool day, the temperatures hover between 105-110.  On a hot day, the temperatures can reach 120.

It is monsoon season in Arizona now. Most people don’t know about the monsoon rains, but they are fast and furious with big raindrops pounding down.  Arizona also does not observe daylight savings as does the rest of the lower 48 states.

No matter what your travel plans are this year, enjoy the journeys and take abundant photos to share back at home with family and friends. Gute Reise!  Bon voyage!  Have a great trip!

    • Lieber Arno,

Thank you for such kind words to us. This has been a fantastic trip with nonstop activities. Also thank you so much for the music CDs. We will have to listen to them at home. It was so nice of you to send them from Germany. More later. Greetings from both of us in Sedona. Eure Mary Ann mit Emily. 😎😎🎶🎶❤️❤️

What a magical trip with your daughter and I wish you the best of times!😀❤️ I bet she loved your choice – just keep cool! Thank you for the holiday wishes; I’m having a very special time and now down on the islands for a few days visiting family (and finally have wifi access!!). Just wonderful to go back to my roots…thinking much of my grandparents.

    • Traveling to one’s roots is so special. It is also good not to be connected and enjoy the moment. The islands sound wonderful. My daughter was blown away by the Grand Canyon and the Red Rocks. She kept remarking they looked like the backdrop for a movie. Beautiful paintings almost. And we both brought back water from the bottom of the Grand Canyon. We turned on the faucets and filled water bottles. My husband just finished his last taste and declared that this is the way water should taste.
