My sister-in-law completed her final journey and her brave two-year-battle with cancer on Monday, July 20, 2015. This week’s entry features my poem dedicated to her. We remain behind in sadness and sorrow.
Upward Flight
You slipped away from
us in the middle of the night.
Tiptoed out silently. We
didn’t hear you leave us.
Be still now and rest.
You are in our thoughts
and hearts. We trust you
are happier where you reside.
We remain behind to
mourn you. You fought
the brave fight these
past two years. Rest
now and be grateful for
a life well-lived. You were
kind and generous to others.
We mere mortals will
try to move on now. Frozen
with sadness, we expect
you at any moment as
we blindly try to carry on.
We rejoice in your wings
carrying you up to heaven.
Eternal happiness and
peace to you forever now.
May those beautiful yesterdays always remain in your heart, and your sorrow gently fade away. My condolences on the passing of your sister-in-law.
